Squad Objectives:  To develop an understanding of competition rules for all strokes and race
starts and turns.

Land Training Coach: N/A
Pool Hours Available: 2 x 45 min session per week
Land Training Hours Available: N/A
Target Ages  (Based at the 31st December each year)  7 to 9 years old
Squad Entry Criteria Attendance:
  • To attend as many sessions as possible to maximise progress
Performance
  • To have achieved a minimum of stage 6 of the National Plan for teaching Swimming (NPTS)  and or Swim Award 1
  • If the above hasn’t been completed, then to be referred by a Level 2 Swimming teacher as being competent.
  • Working towards Swim England Preliminary Competitive Start Award
Attitude:
  • To be able to demonstrate a willingness to learn new skills 
  • A strong desire to improve on current skills and technique 
  • A team player – polite, supportive, caring and empathetic
Consideration:
  • Can access this training after completing a trial session, by one of the club’s coaches.
Squad Exit Criteria: Unable to attain the relevant attendance, performance and attitude standards as set in the squad criteria.
Consistently late to sessions without agreement.
Pathway: Meeting the criteria - transition to Academy Gold.
